Volunteer Opportunities
Get involved in your Lafayette Parks Department! The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Workreation
Workreation is a volunteer program for kids ages 8-17. The program offers children the opportunity to perform light cleaning and maintenance in the parks in exchange for a "Kids Can Pass". Kids may volunteer one hour per day at either Columbian Park, Castaway Bay, or Vinton Pool. For more information about Workreation, click here.
Junior Zookeeper Program
The JZK Program is designed for students ages 14-17 that have a special interest in learning about animals and how zoos operate. It is a structured volunteer program. Students are expected to attend several training sessions in the spring and then work scheduled shifts for the duration of the summer. Students will have the opportunity to learn animal husbandry skills and conduct educational encounters in the park. Applications for this program will be available in February. Call (765) 807-1543 for more information. Visit the Zoo's website for additional information.
